Does the card price apply to both debit and credit cards?

When it comes to your customers’ payment transactions, you may be concerned about what pricing restrictions exist with Edge. Rest assured that the flat-rateEdge prices you see apply to any card type that is run as a credit transaction. If a debit card is  PIN enabled, the customer will pay the cash price.

Does this mean I will make more profit on credit transactions?

With Edge’s dual pricing features, you will make similar revenue regardless of how a customer pays. Because the fees you will pay to process cash transactions will be lower with our dual pricing, you can pass on a discount to your customers who pay with cash.

Additionally, you will also not be levying higher prices to clients who use credit cards, a practice that is frowned upon everywhere and is actually illegal in many jurisdictions. As a result of these features, client satisfaction and retention are sure to increase.

Do I pay sales tax on the cash price or the card price?

With Edge’s system, that is integrated into your POS solution, you don’t need to worry about calculating the sales tax. The system will automatically recognize what type of payment is being used to make the purchase and calculate the taxes owed based on the dollar amount spent.

Do I have to have signage explaining the dual pricing?

As with every other part of your customer-related activities, transparency is key. The same goes for communicating your dual pricing structure. Signage is mandatory. Edge will furnish you with everything you need to keep your clients informed and be in compliance with card brand regulations.

Which price should I show on my shelves and displays?

Some states have regulations about signage that pertains to dual pricing. Before you make any decisions, be sure you understand the rules that you are obligated to follow. However, display the non-cash cost if you are only highlighting a single price.

When customers see the price that they will need to pay when using a credit card and you then communicate the lower, discounted price for making the purchase with cash, they may be more likely to hand over those bills and coins in lieu of plastic.

What should I do if a customer asks about a price?

Buyer questions provide you with a terrific opportunity to educate and clarify. The bottom line is that people need to understand that they will receive a discount for paying in cash. When you get an inquiry, refer the person to your signage, addressing any concerns and questions in a thorough and friendly manner. Be sure that your staff is fully trained in providing this information as well.

What are the fees associated with dual pricing?

With Edge, all basic services are covered under a flat rate. If you choose to purchase supplementary products, software or services from us, there will be additional charges that will be clearly presented and explained.

Can I change signage to reflect my business’s policies?

The cash discounting requirements stipulated by your local or state government, as well as those put in place by the card companies cannot be changed or obscured by your own proprietary signage or information. However, although all information needs to remain unchanged, you can add your own branding or logo.

Do I need to use specific hardware to be involved in this program?

You can only be using North’s Electronic Payment Exchange (EPX) to process your payments if you want to participate in the Edge Program. Also, you will need to verify that it is compatible with your existing terminal since it only works with specific ones.
