What if I already accept American Express?
Currently, full acquiring will apply only to merchants signing up for accounts after July 1. If you are an existing merchant, a full acquiring number will need to be generated.  These numbers are not unique to each merchant.  This will be an internal number only, and will be assigned later this year when the program is made available to existing merchants.

What are my rates?
Rates will be the same as Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and PayPal.

When will I receive my money?
American Express funds will be included in the deposit of  a merchant’s Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and PayPal transactions- typically 2-4 business days.

Can I refuse to accept an American Express transaction?
No, merchants cannot refuse to accept a card type.

I received a chargeback on an American Express transaction, who should I contact?

Can I opt out of taking American Express?
Yes, merchants have the option to opt out but should be educated on the benefits of the program before making a decision.

Note: If a merchant decides to opt out of American Express Full Acquiring, they will be opting out of American Express all together, meaning a merchant will not be able to accept American Express on any program.

Can I take this American Express merchant number with me to another processor?
No, merchants will need to obtain a new American Express merchant number from their new processor.
